Review of TurboTax Premier - CD or Download 2009Pros:- Still has the interview option
Cons:- Less import capability, no meaningful help
"TT went backwards on a rocket in 2009. Their import capability is less than in 2008 and I had to hand key far more information. Their interview used to walk you through questions with better explanations. This year, they just ask you a questions yes/no with little or no aid. Intuit is doing to TT what they did to Quicken. The bean counters have taken over and TT is going south in a hurry."

unable to change even one number a.g.i.
generated a ream of printout that the federal goverment would not except.
spent probuly 20+ hour doing. my fileing that was not complicated.
wanted to change mistake but had no access to forms. three calls to irs.
file was accepted and I don't know what i did or undone
for them to accept.

Cons:- Financial import feature does not work
"I have used Turbo Tax for several years but this is the first time I used it for stock investments. Both Turbo Tax and Scottrade claim that account records are importable but this feature does not work. It only imports stock sales, not purchases. This means that the user has to go back and enter the purchase date and cost for each trade. If you do not do this, you will pay excessive taxes as the cost of the stock is not deducted. If you purchased a particular stock on two occasions but later sold it in one lump, only the single sale appears in the import. You cannot document the purchases that led up to it. A good friend of mine had the same experience so I believe this is common to this software."

"I've used Turbotax for a number of years and I continue to see improvements in the software and would recommend it to anyone who completes their own taxes. Prior to Turbotax I used other tax software and they were not as comprehensive or intuitive as Turbotax. I have nothing but good to say about the software."
