"I have used Turbo Tax for at least the past 3 years. It has walked me through the process without any hangup, easy to understand and each category is explained in full detail. Easy to use and easy to file. Maybe you could have two states for free instead of just one. I live in Illinois but do Indiana taxes."

problem for heavy day traders

Cons:- time consuming
"When selling large numbers of shares they are often sold in small blocks. TurboTax rightly checks to make sure they are not duplicate sales when the symbol, date and number of shares are the same.
However it takes up to 3 minutes for TT to make the change after the user checks the box explaining it is not a duplicate. I had 77 potential duplicates. HOURS of TIME.
Silly and needs to be greatly improved." -

"Best tax experience i have used. It does take some time to do, but it is time well spent. It enables me to maximize my return and decrease the taxes i have to pay. I am confident in the product to upto date and will not mislead me. As of now, i will not ease any other tax preparation program. Thanks TurboTax"

"I have used TurboTax since 1987 and this product has continued to get better and easier to use. This is absolutely the best version so far and I am glad to be using it."

Cons:- Error checking went straight to the complicated tax form mode I was trying to avoid by purchasing TurboTax to begin with
"The few problems I had included:
Error checking went straight to the complicated tax form mode I was trying to avoid by purchasing TurboTax in the first place with no option to revisit the section in "friendly" mode. When an error happens is exactly when I want things explained in a friendly way.
TurboTax seems to be unaware with the relatively new 401(k) Roth plans and inaccurately reported that I did not make any 401(k) contributions for the tax year. Somewhat disconcerting." -

Cons:- not everything is in plain language; efile costs too much
"Intuit must be earning a killing on those e-file fees. Charging $20 to e-file each state return is very unfriendly.
While Intuit advertises Turbotax as using "plain language", it sure doesn't for non-standard situations. Thing like the sale of ESPP stocks are written in legalese and doesn't help the average user." -

Cons:- None of the helps worked in January
"I've used TurboTax for years and this was the first time I had trouble. Instructions have always been clear and walk through worked well. This time I had to file early and had no end of trouble in January. The program shut down every time I clicked on a "more info" or explanation button. Fortunately, it was able to retrieve my data each time. I spent a few hours on the phone with tech support and tried all kinds of fixes to no avail. Since I needed to get through it for financial aid applications for college before Feb. 1, I ended up just going to IRS publications for all my questions, and submitting estimated tax info. When I update in March it all worked fine and I had done most of it right. But it was a real pain not to have the quality product I was used to when I needed it."
