"This is my first self-service tax return in US and i have to say that this software is very good for first-timers who are new to US Tax Laws. Its leading questions (especially during deductions) made me realize about deductions which otherwise i wouldnt have known about if i visited a Tax agent. Great job Turbotax!"

"TurboTax is good for simple returns. If you own a business or have serious investments, you need to know what you're doing a little bit so you can be sure that your return makes sense. There has been instances where income was reported twice under different headings, which would have gone through without careful proofreading and some thinking. If you have a straightforward return (i.e., you got W-2s from your employer and have normal deductions), then TurboTax is great."

Cons: Cannot downgrade versions and cannot save without signing out.
"For pevious tax year I used the premier version, but my tax situation changed for this current tax year that did not require the use of premier version, but rather just the deluxe version. I could not downgrade to the deluxe version using the same user id. I had to create a whole new user id, but this was after I spent hours keying in all the tax information under my last year's user id. Turbotax should be able to detect that the information keyed did not require that version of the software, or it should allow a downgrade during the review process. As far as saving my return, I got to the end of keying the second time around and was ready to file when I received a message that I my information was being re-directed to and saved to another server and that I would be shown a screen that I might have previously already seen. After this occurred, my information did not save automatically and I lost everything that I had keyed for the second time. Need a manual save button on each screen as the auto save feature does not seem to functioning properly."

"Turbo Tax is easy to use software. The most useful part is that fact that it will import information from previous years. That alone is worth the purchase price. The only con I can find is that some hard to qualify/quantify tax rules may be hard for the program to identify."

"I've used Turbo Tax and Turbo Tax online for many years. I have found that over the years, the tax program has become more rigid and more difficult to use. I remember when I could jump into forms while I was still filling out the interview information, but this option seems to have disappeared.
The BIG problem I have is that I accidentally chose Turbo Tax Home & Business Online this year. Once I realized that I chose the wrong version, I could not downgrade to the Deluxe version without changing to a new userid. I had the old userid on Intuit's web site for many years! Now I have to manage two different ones. Next year if I go back to my old userid, all of my 2008 data will be missing because Intuit refuses to make it easier to downgrade the Turbo Tax Online versions."

"This is my fourth year using turbo tax and I never had an issue with it. But my schedule C was comming out for standard mileage deducitons and it kept putting in the wrong numbers and so the error check kept comming back. I finally had to delete the schedule C for my car and lost money on it. It seemed from the questions that others were having issues too."
