"Turbo Tax is greatly improved this year. I had no problems with special situations and didn't find any computing errors his year, unlike last year. I also like some of the "tweaks" that were made to make it more user friendly."

"I hate the fact that I was unable to follow the calculations on the tax return or look at any of the tax forms until after they were done.
Also, if you need to check the best filing status, you cannot do what if scenarios. For example; maried filing jointly versus maried filing separately."

"I found this year's format much easier to use and to follow. I could relate to the different areas on the actual forms. Plus it had the choices available for review. I could look at all of my information and see what needed to be done.
I had done this by hand and Turbo Tax found more deductions for me than I had figured. Also, the manual format does not have helpful tips. The ease of efiling in this format ensures I will never submit manual tax forms again."

1099-R glitch

Pros: like that you transfer amount from forms
Cons: why was this not fixed?
"form 1099-R, box 7 = J (early distribution). Check was issued 12-18-08 and rolled over into another RothIRA account on 12-30-08. Tax software says only if box 7 = B or G that a Roth can be rolled over. However that is not true, there is a 90 day grace period for a rollover and I am well within that limit. Because of this error it looks like I will have to file by mail instead of electronically. How disappointing."

"I don't think my taxes are especially compex but the tax forms, tax codes and tax tables certainly are. You will have to submit all the information entered into TurboTax to a tax preparer or directly on the forms. TurboTax organizes the entire process so that nothing is overlooked.
One of the best features of TurboTax is the continuity between years. It "remembers" what you filed last year and builds from that information. You always have the option to make changes as circumstances change but you don't have to put in lots of the same information year after year."

"It is surprising to me that Turbotax cannot download correct stock trading information from etrade. I doubt it is because some database issue in etrade. However, even if that's the case, it would be much better that TurboTax can reach out to etrade bank and solve this issue. I've been using Turbotax for several years and I have to spend many hours input stock trading data by hand each year! Very tired!
It is also surprising to me that it does not have many famous banks in its list of financial institute. I have to mannually input 1099 form data too!"

"I have filed with turbo tax for 15 years and this is the first year turbotax added a schedule C, which I didn't need and had to manually delete. It also didn't import the right numbers into form 1116 so I had to figure out my cost basis myself."
